Senator Hassan Discusses Impact of President Trump’s Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum on New Hampshire Businesses at Hitchiner Manufacturing

MILFORD – Senator Maggie Hassan today visited Hitchiner Manufacturing, where she toured the facility and discussed the business’s innovative workforce development program, as well as the impacts of President Trump’s tariffs on steel and aluminum on New Hampshire businesses. Last week, the Senator introduced the bipartisan Bicameral Congressional Trade Authority Act with Senators Pat Toomey (R-PA), Mark Warner (D-VA), and Ben Sasse (R-NE), which would restore Congress’s constitutional trade responsibilities and relieve American consumers and businesses of the burdens caused by the Trump Administration’s unilateral imposition of sweeping tariffs on imported steel and aluminum. Click here for more information on the legislation.

Hassan, Portman Reintroduce Bipartisan Bill to Bolster “Cyber Hunt and Incident Response Teams” to Strengthen Cybersecurity, Protect the Homeland

WASHINGTON - Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Rob Portman (R-OH), both members of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee (HSGAC), reintroduced their bipartisan Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Cyber Hunt and Incident Response Teams Act today to help bolster cybersecurity by requiring DHS to make permanent the “cyber hunt” and “cyber incident response” teams that work to help prevent cyberattacks on federal agencies and the private sector, and help mitigate the impact of such attacks when they occur. WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan announced today that she will host Donna Beckman of Seabrook as her guest of honor for President Trump’s State of the Union Address on Tuesday, February 5th. Donna received a surprise medical bill for $1,648 following a visit to an emergency room that was in her insurance network. She was only later told that a doctor she saw — for about 5 minutes — was actually out-of-network. Senator Hassan is leading efforts in Congress to address surprise medical bills, which pose a financial burden on Granite Staters like Donna and people across the country who receive massive, unexpected medical bills, often for receiving care that they didn’t realize was considered out-of-network.

(Washington, DC) – The New Hampshire Congressional delegation introduced bicameral bills that would create a commemorative coin to honor Christa McAuliffe and reaffirm Congress’ commitment to invest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education. The Christa McAuliffe Commemorative Coin Act of 2019 would create a $1 coin honoring the Concord educator who died aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1986, with proceeds going toward the FIRST Robotics program which was founded by Manchester-based inventor Dean Kamen.
