Shaheen, Hassan & Kuster Announce Over $400K Investment to Support Services for Survivors of Domestic & Sexual Violence in Claremont

(Manchester, NH) – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced $468,000 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to Turning Points Network in Claremont to strengthen the organization’s capacity to serve survivors of domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking. Specifically, the funds will come in the form of a federal loan of $332,000, a grant of $59,700 from USDA’s Community Facilities Direct Loan & Grant Program and a $76,300 USDA Rural Development’s Economic Impact Initiative Grant. These federal funds will allow the organization to make urgently needed renovations and move into its new office space to meet increasing demand for services, accommodate a growing number of staff and ensure privacy for survivors and advocates.

NH Delegation Announces More Than $4.4 Million for NH Projects through NBRC

(Manchester, NH) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced today with Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Chris Pappas (NH-01) that New Hampshire agencies and organizations have been awarded $4,443,428 from the Northern Border Regional Commission (NBRC) for various projects that invest in the Granite State’s economic and community development. Senator Hassan Statement on Postmaster General DeJoy Heeding Calls to Temporarily Stop Some Changes that are Slowing Mail Delivery to Granite Staters and Americans

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan, a member of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee which oversees the United States Postal Service (USPS), released the following statement after USPS Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced that he would “suspend” some of the harmful operational changes that he made to the agency, which have slowed mail delivery. Senator Hassan and a number of her Democratic colleagues have called for an immediate end to DeJoy’s policies, and Senator Hassan will be questioning DeJoy about the impact on Granite Staters at a hearing on Friday.

IRS Agrees to Get More Americans Their Stimulus Payments This Year Following Efforts from Senator Hassan

NH Delegation Announces More Than $1.3 Million for Student Support Services at UNH, Keene State and Plymouth State

(Manchester, NH) – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced the award of $1,364,423 in federal funding to the University of New Hampshire (UNH), Keene State College (KSC) and Plymouth State University (PSU) to bolster and expand vital student support services. UNH, KSC and PSU will receive $379,979, $364,948 and $357,608 for the TRIO Student Support Services program, which serves low-income and potential first-generation college students in higher education. In addition, KSC will receive a $261,888 award to fund a new pilot program that will serve 120 first-generation, low-income students and students with disabilities who have a need for academic support and are pursuing a STEM degree.
