Following the disclosure of a draft Supreme Court decision that would overturn Roe v Wade, Senator Maggie Hassan appeared on local news radio and TV, including with NH Today with Chris Ryan, Good Morning NH with Jack Heath, and WKBK’s Open Mic with Dan Mitchell, to discuss her efforts to protect reproductive rights.
In the interviews, Senator Hassan discussed how the draft Supreme Court opinion would be devastating for American women and their freedom. The Senator also talked about the importance of passing the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would enshrine Roe v. Wade as the law of the land and protect the right of every woman to control her own destiny.

Senator Hassan’s Interview on NH Today with Chris Ryan:
- On The Supreme Court’s Reported Decision to Overturn Roe: “This is an evisceration of the fundamental right that women have, the right to make their own health care decisions, the right to be considered true and equal citizens in a democracy. And what the Supreme Court reported ruling means is that the Court will no longer protect that.”
- On the Importance of Protecting Reproductive Rights: “What I do know is that men and women across New Hampshire, men and women across this country, believe that people should have the right to control what happens to their own bodies and to live with autonomy and liberty. That is fundamentally what it means to be an American. And I will continue to fight for the full inclusion of women in our society, and that starts with them being able to make their own health care decisions and decide if and when to have a family.”
Senator Hassan’s Interview on Open Mic with Dan Mitchell:
- On the Women’s Health Protection Act: “We have to do everything we can to get the legislation we have in Congress that would codify Roe v Wade passed. And as your listeners may well know, the Women's Health Protection Act passed the House earlier in the session, but was blocked in the Senate by my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. And the vast majority of Americans support a woman’s right to make their own health care decisions, and my colleagues on the other side of the aisle should stop blocking the bill from coming to the floor for an up or down majority vote.”
Senator Hassan’s Interview on Good Morning NH with Jack Heath:
On the Threat This Decision Poses to Women’s Freedom: “And it is really concerning if this is, in fact, the decision of the Court. And it's a decision that stands. This overturns Roe v Wade. It overturns the Casey case as well. And it will be a very scary and difficult time for women who confront an unwanted or unplanned pregnancy.”
