Senator Hassan Hosts Second Annual Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum

The Senator Led a Discussion on Workforce Solutions for New Hampshire

MANCHESTER – Senator Maggie Hassan today hosted the second annual Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum to bring innovators and entrepreneurs together to discuss what it takes to start and run a successful business in New Hampshire, as well as how to address the challenges they face. The Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum, which was held at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics at Saint Anselm College, included two panel discussions, the first moderated by Senator Hassan on workforce solutions for New Hampshire, and the second focused on innovation in the Granite State.

“One of the best parts of my job has always been talking to business leaders across the state,” Senator Hassan said at today’s event. “I hear about the unique opportunities that you have to start up and grow a business in New Hampshire and about the great work you are doing in a whole variety of sectors. But I also hear about the challenges that you experience – on everything from getting your business off the ground, to sustaining it with a workforce that is prepared. We need to do more to support your work, because helping businesses and entrepreneurs thrive is vital to laying a strong foundation for economic growth.”

The Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum is a continuation of then-Governor Hassan’s work to expand economic opportunity and support job-creating businesses. As part of the “Innovate NH plan” she developed and implemented as Governor, Maggie Hassan successfully worked to strengthen the workforce by freezing in-state tuition at New Hampshire’s public colleges and universities, double the state’s research and development tax credit, provide businesses with technical assistance, and increase international trade assistance. As Governor, she also launched the Live Free and Start initiative, which worked to support startups and help them access capital. As Senator, she is working to continue and build on those efforts.
