HOOKSETT – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan and Laura Landerman-Garber of Hollis visited a Vet Center last Friday in Hooksett to drop off cards to veterans that were written by Granite Staters as part of the Cards 2 Connect program. Senator Hassan and Landerman-Garber announced the Cards 2 Connect program to help spread some joy to New Hampshire veterans in 2020 and let them know that Granite Staters appreciate their service.

“Veterans have made enormous sacrifices on behalf of our country, and they deserve to know that their sacrifices have not gone unnoticed and will always be remembered,” said Senator Hassan. “Cards 2 Connect gives Granite Staters the opportunity to thank veterans for their service and let them know that we’re thinking of them. It was great to be in Hooksett today to be able to distribute these cards to veterans, and I encourage all Granite Staters to join us in participating in this meaningful project.”

“Partnering with Senator Hassan to create the #Cards2Connect Program has been a true honor. We share a mission to engage others, both in the Granite State as well as across our nation, to reach out to our treasured veterans. #Cards2Connect has taken us all on a journey of connecting with those beloved Americans who have served our country, be they young enlistees or our more seasoned veterans. By writing a simple message of care and appreciation, our veterans, like those that we met in Hooksett are embraced and touched by your gratitude. I believe that every card counts and that we all can reach out to our American Heroes every day with a smile and a heartfelt ‘Thank you for your service’.  With over half a million cards sent out from New Hampshire and messages from Americans from all 50 states, I hope that everyone will continue to join in to support our veterans, troops, and our military Families,” said Laura Landerman-Garber.

Senator Hassan’s office has previously partnered with Landerman-Garber on the Cards 2 Connect project, as well as her Military Holiday Card Challenge, in which Granite Staters and Americans across the country can send holiday cards to active duty military troops. For her efforts to spread cheer to military members during the holidays, Senator Hassan recognized Landerman-Garber as September 2018’s Granite Stater of the Month
