Senator Hassan Named Most Bipartisan Member of Congress in New Ranking

Award from Nonpartisan Common Ground Committee Follows Senator Hassan’s Award as Most Bipartisan Senator in 2022

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) has been named the most bipartisan member of Congress by the nonpartisan Common Ground Committee. Senator Hassan is the first elected official to ever receive a perfect score on the committee’s scorecard of those who embody the spirit of bipartisanship and find common ground and areas of agreement with others.

“Our democracy works best when our leaders are able to come together and work to deliver results. Granite Staters connect with one another by putting aside their differences, and I try to follow their example every day, find common ground, develop creative solutions, and get things done in a bipartisan way in Congress,” said Senator Hassan. “Bipartisanship strengthens our ability to make lasting change based on the priorities of the American people, and I am honored to earn this ranking. I will continue to work across the aisle to deliver bipartisan results for Granite Staters.”

“We’ve been tabulating the Common Ground Scorecard for four years, and Sen. Hassan is the first elected official to receive a perfect score on the scorecard for her work to find common ground,” said Common Ground Committee Cofounder Erik Olsen. “She is the best example of the kind of politician we want to highlight, striving each day to find solutions for the biggest problems our country is facing. We applaud Senator Hassan for her work to seek out common ground on our country’s toughest challenges.”

Common Ground Committee is a nonpartisan, nonprofit citizen-led organization dedicated to bringing healing to the national challenges of polarization and incivility. The Common Ground Scorecard was first created in 2020 to help voters identify the elected officials and candidates who are dedicated to finding common ground and making progress. Senator Hassan is the first elected official to ever receive a perfect score on the ranking.

The award from the Common Ground Committee follows Senator Hassan’s recognition in 2022 by the nonpartisan Lugar Center and The McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University as the most bipartisan Senator. In the Lugar Center’s analysis, Senator Hassan’s score was the highest-ever earned by a Democratic Senator in the history of the Lugar Center.
