Senator Hassan on Senate Republican Vote to Move Forward with Plans to Pass Trumpcare

WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement on the Senate vote to move forward with plans to pass Trumpcare:

“Today’s vote by Senate Republicans sends a message that they are willing to hurt the health and well-being of the American people in the name of partisan politics. By moving forward with plans to pass a Trumpcare bill, Senate Republicans are setting our nation down a dangerous path toward raising health care costs for worse coverage, while callously stripping away health insurance from millions of people and dealing a major blow to our efforts to combat the heroin, fentanyl, and opioid crisis. Granite Staters from all walks of life have shared their stories with me about how devastating the various Senate health care bills would be for them and their families, and I will continue to fight to ensure that this bill never becomes law. I hope that before we reach the end of this process my Republican colleagues will turn back from their partisan approach and recognize the need to work together to build on and improve the Affordable Care Act to lower costs and improve care for people across New Hampshire and America.”
