Senator Hassan to Host Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum

Forum Will Provide Workshops for Granite State Entrepreneurs Working to Start Up and Grow Innovative Businesses

MANCHESTER – On November 13th at Manchester Community College, Senator Maggie Hassan will host the Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum as part of her efforts to support New Hampshire’s entrepreneurs and ensure that they have the tools they need to launch innovative businesses and thrive.

The Forum will provide a day of interactive workshops for entrepreneurs covering critical “how-to” topics to get small businesses off the ground and make them successful. Workshops will focus on learning to fund an idea; seeking out resources and support; creating a business plan; rural entrepreneurship; managing social media as a startup; women business ownership; and more.

“The Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum will provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs across New Hampshire to hone the skills and knowledge necessary to turn an innovative idea into a thriving business,” Senator Hassan said. “I am excited to host this Forum with business and education leaders from across New Hampshire, and I will keep working to ensure that entrepreneurs in the Granite State have what they need to start up and grow new businesses, boost job creation, and strengthen our economy.”

Presenters at the Forum include, the Small Business Development Center, Community College System of NH, Center for Women and Enterprise, AlphaLoft, Hannah Grimes Center, University of New Hampshire Entrepreneurship Center, New Hampshire College and University Council, Women’s Rural Entrepreneurship Network, Small Business Administration, NH Businesses for Social Responsibility, and the University System of New Hampshire.

As part of her efforts to support New Hampshire’s entrepreneurs, the first bill Senator Hassan introduced was the Reigniting Opportunity for Innovators (ROI) Act, which would help provide the student loan debt relief necessary for entrepreneurs to start up and grow innovative small businesses. The ROI Act provides additional incentives for startup companies in economically distressed areas by making founders and employees of small businesses in qualifying areas eligible for cancellation of up to $20,000 in student loans.

The Innovate NH Entrepreneurship Forum is a continuation of then-Governor Hassan’s work to expand economic opportunity and support job-creating businesses. As part of the “Innovate NH plan” she developed and implemented as Governor, Maggie Hassan successfully worked to strengthen the workforce by freezing in-state tuition at New Hampshire’s public colleges and universities, double the state’s research and development tax credit, provide businesses with technical assistance, and increase international trade assistance. As Senator, she is working to continue and build on those efforts.
