As Economy Begins to Reopen Amid COVID-19 Pandemic, Senator Hassan Urges Defense Department to Release More Information on Its Plan to Safely Resume Normal Operations at Home and Abroad

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan urged the Department of Defense to release additional information on its plan to resume normal operations at home and abroad as more parts of the economy begin to reopen amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, the Senator calls for the Department to implement health screening measures, such as fever screenings, to better protect workers’ health, and also calls on the Department to pay particular attention to workers with high-risk family members who face greater danger from exposure to the virus.

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) led Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and James Lankford (R-OK) in calling on the nonpartisan Government Accountability Office to investigate ongoing delays to the KC-46 aircraft program that are preventing the aircraft from being used in operational missions, including at Pease Air National Guard Base in New Hampshire. WASHINGTON – A bipartisan group of senators led by Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) today introduced legislation to boost oversight of trillions in taxpayer funded pandemic relief by helping the special watchdog quickly onboard critical oversight staff. The Special Inspector General for Pandemic Recovery Expedited Hiring Authority Act allows the office to bypass the lengthy government hiring process to so it can quickly ramp up oversight operations.
