Senator Hassan Marks First Day of Child Tax Credit Payments

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan released the following statement as families in New Hampshire and across the country begin to see the benefits of the expanded child tax credit starting today. Granite Staters can check their eligibility for the child tax credit payments here, and any Granite Stater who is eligible but has not previously filed their 2019 or 2020 tax return can sign up to receive their tax credit here.

Senators Collins, Hassan Lead Call to Support Students in Rural Communities

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senators Susan Collins (R-ME) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) led their colleagues in calling for continued federal resources to help students in rural communities. The Senators wrote to the leaders of the Education Appropriations Subcommittee to urge their continued support for the Rural Education Achievement Program (REAP) and the Rural Postsecondary and Economic Development Grant Program, which provide crucial targeted assistance to rural students in Maine, New Hampshire, and rural communities across the country.  The letter was signed by eight Senators, including Senators Angus King (I-ME) and Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH).

NH Delegation Announces More than $3.1 Million for NH Small Rural Hospitals to Bolster COVID-19 Testing & Mitigation

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced that New Hampshire small rural hospitals will receive $3,100,512 to bolster COVID-19 testing and mitigation. Specifically, the funding was allocated through the American Rescue Plan and awarded through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP). Small rural hospitals — those with fewer than 50 beds and Critical Access Hospitals — are vital health care access points and trusted community resources. The federal dollars can be used by Granite State small rural hospitals to expand COVID-19 testing, boost access to testing and strengthen mitigation efforts.

Senator Hassan Discusses Need for Additional Investments in Broadband Infrastructure in Bristol

BRISTOL – U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan visited downtown Bristol today to discuss the need to invest in infrastructure projects across New Hampshire, particularly broadband, as she works with her colleagues on a bipartisan infrastructure package. The Senator heard from Bristol’s Town Administrator, Nicholas Coates, and other local leaders about the town’s efforts to expand broadband to its residents, which has been made possible in part through funding secured in the bipartisan CARES Act that Senator Hassan and her colleagues worked to pass into law last year. The Senator also heard about Bristol’s efforts to develop the Pemi Trail, which would help bolster downtown businesses and expand outdoor recreation opportunities for the community. The Senator began the walking tour at Shackett’s Brewing Company, and then headed to the new Pemi Trail, before concluding with a visit to Collaborative Anesthesia Partners.
