Major Bipartisan Bill to Combat Opioid Crisis Passes Senate, Includes Key Measures Authored by Senator Hassan

Senator Maggie Hassan, a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee voted to approve a major bipartisan bill to combat the deadly opioid epidemic that is ravaging communities in New Hampshire and across the country. Senate Passes Bipartisan Bill Cosponsored by Senator Hassan to Prohibit “Pharmacy Gag Clauses” That Cause Consumers to Pay Higher Prices for Prescription Drugs

A bipartisan bill co-sponsored by Senator Maggie Hassan to prohibit so-called "pharmacy gag clauses" that conceal prescription drug prices from patients passed the U.S. Senate today. Pharmacy gag clauses forbid pharmacists from proactively telling consumers if their prescription would cost less if they paid for it out of pocket rather than through their insurance plan, and pharmacists who disobey these clauses can face significant penalties. NH Delegation Announces $20 Million Research Grant to UNH

Today, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswomen Carol Shea-Porter (NH-01) and Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced a $20 million National Science Foundation (NSF) award to New Hampshire's Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (NH EPSCoR) at the University of New Hampshire. This grant will fund NH BioMade, a five-year project aimed at expanding New Hampshire's research capacity in the design and development of potentially lifesaving biomaterials using 3D printing. Critically, this project will build research capacity across New Hampshire, developing a strong workforce for biotechnology and advanced manufacturing through additional hiring, workforce training and education.… Continue Reading
