Following Efforts from Senator Hassan, EPA Approves Disposal Site That Will be Used for Rye Harbor Dredging Materials

Senator Hassan Successfully Worked with Senator Shaheen to Secure Funding for Rye Harbor Dredging Project Earlier This Year

WASHINGTON – Following efforts from U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it has designated an Ocean Dredged Material Disposal Site at Isles of Shoals North, which will help serve Rye Harbor when it begins its dredging project this fall. Senator Hassan advocated for the continued authorization of this critical disposal site last year, and worked with Senator Shaheen and Representative Pappas earlier this year to secure $4 million for the Rye Harbor dredging project.

“Designating a disposal site at the Isles of Shoals North will help reduce costs for Rye Harbor‘s dredging project and go a long way toward supporting current and future dredging projects in New Hampshire,” Senator Hassan said. “I was glad to have helped secure the funding and approval for Rye Harbor’s dredging project that will help keep this harbor functional, and I will continue working to support the Seacoast’s regional economy.”
