Senators Hassan, Grassley, and Whitehouse Lead Call to FDA to Provide Answers on Potential Conflicts of Interest with Consulting Firm McKinsey in Relation to Opioid Crisis

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH), Chuck Grassley (R-IA), and Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) are calling on the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to provide answers on its past work with the consulting firm McKinsey & Company and the potential conflicts of interest that may have arisen while the consulting firm was working simultaneously for the FDA and opioid manufacturers such as Purdue Pharma. The letter was also signed by Senators Ed Markey (D-MA), Joe Manchin (D-WV), and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).

NH Delegation Announces More than $1.8 Million in AmeriCorps Vista Funding for NH Programs Serving Vulnerable Communities

(Manchester, NH) – Today, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, and U.S. Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced that New Hampshire has received $1,832,100 in funding from the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), the federal agency for volunteering and service programs. These funds were awarded through CNCS’ Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) program, which is a national service program designed to alleviate poverty in America. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve full-time for one year at non-profit organizations, schools or local government agencies to help underserved communities across the nation. The AmeriCorps VISTA Summer Associate program offers individuals the opportunity to become engaged in a community through an existing AmeriCorps VISTA project for 8, 9, or 10 weeks during the summer.

NH Stakeholders, Activists Hail Shaheen and Hassan for Historic Investments in Environment, Spearheading Water Infrastructure, Energy Efficiency & Coastal Resilience Priorities Included in Bipartisan Infrastructure Package

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) celebrated the Senate’s passage of the bipartisan infrastructure deal this week, which makes historic investments in the environment. Senators Hassan, Braun Introduce Bipartisan Bill to Make It Easier and Safer to Dispose of Opioids and Other Medications

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Mike Braun (R-IN) introduced a bipartisan bill to make it easier to dispose of opioids and other medications. Under current law, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is only able to recommend use of mail-in drug disposal products for prescription drugs such as opioids. The Better Options for Drug Disposal Systems to Reduce Diversion Act of 2021 would eliminate this burdensome requirement and allow for more broad use of safe and effective in-home disposal products, such as those which modify the chemical makeup of the drugs and make them unusable.

NH Leaders, Stakeholders Laud Shaheen & Hassan for Leadership on Historic Infrastructure Legislation

(Washington, DC) – On Tuesday, the U.S. Senate overwhelmingly voted in support of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act with a bipartisan vote of 69-30. The bill represents the largest investment in infrastructure in our nation’s history. This package would provide a $550 billion investment in our nation’s core infrastructure priorities – including roads and bridges, rail, transit, ports, airports, the electric grid, water systems and broadband.
