Shaheen, Hassan and Pappas Announce $1.9 Million in Federal Funding to Advance Solar Technologies

(Washington, DC) – U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, today announced with Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-01) the award of $1.9 million in federal grant money to advance new solar technologies. The grants were awarded through the Department of Energy‘s (DOE) Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy’s Solar Energy Technologies Office, which aims to support research projects that will lower solar energy costs, strengthen the manufacturing of solar technology and harden the cybersecurity of solar systems.

Senator Hassan Cosponsors Bipartisan Bill to Expand Access to Assistive Technology for Seniors and People Experiencing Disabilities

WASHINGTON – Senator Maggie Hassan is cosponsoring a bipartisan bill, led by Republican Senator Susan Collins of Maine and Democratic Senator Bob Casey of Pennsylvania, to help expand access to affordable assistive technology for seniors and individuals who experience disabilities. Assistive technology includes items such as hearing aids, wheelchair ramps, or devices to help individuals who are non-verbal to communicate.

Kuster, Shaheen and Hassan Announce $30,000 USDA Rural Development Grant for Franklin

(Concord, NH) — Congresswoman Annie Kuster (NH-02) announced with U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) that the US Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of Rural Development has awarded the City of Franklin a $30,000 grant. The funding will be used to help further economic development in the city. Specifically, Franklin is hoping to attract investors to finish the re-purposing and revitalization of the core downtown business district, with specific properties being targeted for re-development or renovations.  Kuster wrote a letter of support for the grant earlier this year.

Shaheen, Hassan & Kuster Announce $12 Million for NHDOT Bridge Project on Connecticut River

(Washington, DC) — U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced with Senator Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Congresswoman Annie Kuster (D-NH02) that the Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded the New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) $12 million through the Better Utilizing Investment to Leverage Development (BUILD) Grant program (known formerly as the TIGER Grant program). The funding was approved for a project to construct a new bridge to bypass two aging bridges on the Connecticut River and rehabilitate the older bridges for recreational use. Shaheen has historically secured federal funding for the BUILD Grant program. In government funding legislation that recently passed the Senate, Shaheen helped boost funding for the BUILD Grant program by $100 million, totaling $1 billion for fiscal year (FY) 2020.

NH Delegation Announces More Than $1.2 Million for Youth Substance Use Prevention Efforts in New Hampshire

(Washington, DC) – Today, U.S. Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Maggie Hassan (D-NH) and Representatives Annie Kuster (NH-02) and Chris Pappas (NH-01) announced $1,250,000 in Drug Free Communities (DFC) grants from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) to 10 local drug prevention coalitions in New Hampshire. The grants will provide local community coalitions funding to prevent youth substance use, including prescription drugs and opioids, in Souhegan Valley, Nashua, Franklin, Jaffrey, Winchester, Haverhill, Raymond, Somersworth, Keene and the Upper Valley region. These funds were awarded as part of ONDCP’s initial round of FY 2019 grants for the program.
